Terms of Service

1. Introduction

These Terms of Service govern your use of academyoftribes.com and any related services, applications, or content provided by Academy of Tribes (collectively, the “Service”). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email. Continued use of the Service after such notice constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

2. Who we are

Academy of Tribes is operated by EA, based in Oslo, Norway. We provide psychometric assessment tools, team analytics, and coaching services for individuals and organisations. These terms are governed by Norwegian law.

3. Account eligibility

To use the Service you must:

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Provide accurate and truthful information when creating your account.
• Keep your account credentials secure. We use magic-link authentication — treat your sign-in emails as you would a password and do not forward them to others.
• Maintain only one account per person. Multiple accounts for the same individual are not permitted.

4. Services offered

Academy of Tribes offers three categories of service:

• Free tier — limited access to assessments and results, available to all registered users at no cost.
• Paid subscription — full access to the assessment suite, team features, and TDA (Tribal Dynamics Analysis) analytics. Billed on a recurring basis.
• Coaching and workshop engagements — individual coaching sessions and group workshops, sold separately and contracted individually.

5. Psychometric assessments — important disclaimers

The assessments provided by Academy of Tribes are designed for self-understanding and team development purposes only.

• Assessment results do not constitute medical, psychiatric, or therapeutic advice of any kind.
• The assessments are not clinical instruments and are not a substitute for evaluation by a qualified mental health professional.
• If you are experiencing mental health difficulties, please consult a licensed mental health professional. Assessment results are not an appropriate basis for mental health decisions.
• Academy of Tribes is not liable for any decisions — personal, professional, or otherwise — made on the basis of assessment results.

6. Coaching services disclaimers

Coaching provided through Academy of Tribes is a professional development service, not a clinical or therapeutic service. Specifically:

• Coaching is not therapy and is not a substitute for mental health treatment.
• Your coach is not acting in the capacity of a licensed clinician unless this is explicitly stated in your engagement contract.
• If mental health concerns arise during coaching, your coach may recommend that you speak with a qualified professional.

7. Payments and billing

Paid subscriptions are not yet available. When they are introduced, the following terms will apply:

• Prices will be listed in NOK or EUR (currency to be confirmed at launch).
• Subscriptions renew automatically on a monthly or annual basis depending on the plan selected.
• Norwegian VAT will be applied where required by law.
• Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time. Access continues until the end of the current billing period; no partial refunds are issued for unused time unless required by law.
• Refunds: Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. Contact us at hello@academyoftribes.com within 14 days of purchase for consideration.

8. Intellectual property

Academy of Tribes retains all rights to the platform, scoring algorithms, content, branding, and any other materials we create. Nothing in these terms transfers ownership of our intellectual property to you.

You retain ownership of the assessment responses and results data you generate. By using the Service, you grant Academy of Tribes a limited, non-exclusive licence to process your data solely for the purpose of delivering the Service to you.

9. User obligations

By using the Service you agree not to:

• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or replicate the scoring algorithms or any proprietary components of the platform.
• Share your account credentials or allow others to access the Service through your account.
• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
• Submit malicious code or harmful content through any input on the platform, including contact forms.
• Scrape, systematically download, or otherwise extract data from the platform in bulk without our express written permission.

10. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms or engage in conduct that harms other users or the platform. Where possible, we will notify you before taking such action.

You may delete your account at any time via your profile page (this functionality is being implemented). Upon account deletion or termination, your personal data and assessment results will be deleted within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Norwegian law, Academy of Tribes’ total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these terms or your use of the Service is limited to the fees you paid in the 12 months preceding the claim.

We are not liable for any indirect, consequential, incidental, punitive, or special damages, even if we have been advised of their possibility.

12. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” without warranties beyond those required by Norwegian consumer law. We do not guarantee that the platform will be available without interruption or that assessment results will produce any specific personal or professional outcome.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time to reflect changes in the Service, legal requirements, or operational needs. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email with reasonable advance notice. Continued use of the Service after the effective date of revised terms constitutes your acceptance of those changes.

14. Governing law and dispute resolution

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Norway.

If a dispute arises, we ask that you contact us first so we can try to resolve it informally. If good-faith negotiation does not resolve the matter within 30 days, the parties agree to attempt mediation before initiating formal legal proceedings. Any legal proceedings shall be brought in the courts of Oslo, Norway.
